Pregnancy
Why take part

We believe it is important to understand how health and wellbeing in the family affect the future of our children. We would like to ask mothers and partners to fill out the Born in Wales Survey and help to improve understanding of how to best support families into the future.

Working with midwives in Wales

Our researchers are looking to recruit new mums and their partners to take part in our study which will explore the experiences of pregnancy and we need your help to reach new parents across Wales.

The ‘Born in Wales’ study aims to help better understand how to reduce preterm and low weight births and to help children have the best start in life.

The study looks at life events including working life and stress on pregnant and partners. It is linked to health, school and other data to better understand the family situations that can impact the early years for children with an aim of evidencing what works to support children and families from the very beginning.

The findings from this study can help to inform families, health care professionals and policymakers on how to best support families to give children the best start in life.

How will midwives in Wales benefit from being involved in the study?
  • We want you to get in touch and tell us what questions you want to be answered.  We want to make our research as relevant as possible in order for us to have an impact on health care.  Our research team will incorporate these questions into the research
  • Research findings will be shared with decision-makers to increase understanding and bring about improvements and change
  • Born in Wales can provide you with reports on findings and newsletters
  • Born in Wales provides information packs and materials which midwives can hand out to expectant and new parents
