MIREDA
Mother & Infant Research Electronic Data Analysis (MIREDA)
MIREDA is a UK-wide research collaboration led by Professor Sinead Brophy at the Centre for Population Health (CPH).
It brings together experts from Swansea University, University of Edinburgh, King’s College London, University of Nottingham, University of Birmingham, and the Bradford Institute for Health Research to improve maternal and infant health, particularly for disadvantaged groups.
What MIREDA Does
MIREDA is creating a unique UK research resource by:
- Linking and harmonising maternal and infant health data across multiple birth cohorts and public health datasets.
- Enabling secure data analysis across different research sites without moving sensitive information.
- Standardising data management methods to ensure consistent and comparable analysis.
- Developing automated tools to simplify epidemiological research.
- Building research capacity through workshops, seminars, and collaborative networks.
- Funding early-career researchers and supporting international maternal and infant health research.
By improving how data is used, MIREDA aims to shape policies and interventions that support healthier pregnancies, better birth outcomes, and improved early-life health.
MIREDA is funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC).
